OYMT Presents: Les Misérables School Edition

In 19th century France, Jean Valjean is released from years of unjust imprisonment. He breaks his parole in the hope of starting a new life, initiating a life-long struggle for redemption as he is relentlessly pursued by police inspector, Javert, who refuses to believe that Valjean can change his ways. During the Paris student uprising of 1832, Javert must confront his morality after Valjean spares his life and saves that of the student revolutionary who has captured the heart of Valjean’s adopted daughter. Oxfordshire Youth Music Theatre presents a powerful and moving show which includes classic songs such as ‘Do You Hear the People Sing’, ‘I Dreamed a Dream’, ‘On My Own’ and many more. Immerse yourself in this timeless musical performed entirely by Oxfordshire school students supported by instrumentalists from Oxfordshire County Music Service.

As spring emerges in Abingdon, our beginner-friendly Couch to 5K group gathers just before the town wakes. We meet at 8am each Saturday, right before Abingdon parkrun, moving to 8.45am from week 5. Across nine easy-going weeks, supportive run leaders guide you from first steps to a confident 5K. The pace is gentle, the atmosphere warm, and the successes small at first culminating in a graduation at Abingdon parkrun. You’ll share support, learn to trust your breathing, and feel your stamina unfurl like new leaves. No experience needed and no pressure applied. Grim Dark Gaming Society

The Grim Dark Gaming Society has been going since January 2023 and provides facilities and equipment for Science Fiction and table-top gaming. We provide a space to discuss, paint and play fantasy and sci-fi games. We also offer a safe place to play, paint and meet like-minded people with the same interest. Beginners and experienced players are all welcome. The society is a non-profit organisation made to further enjoyment of the hobby in all aspects. It is also a great opportunity for players to play games with new people and expand participants’ knowledge and passion for Warhammer and similar strategy games. Whilst these are the main games played there is always room for others and we have board games such as, Rumble Slam, Scythe and many more. The club is based above the willows shake shop at the heart of Abingdon town centre and sessions take place on Mondays and Wednesday between 6:30pm and 10:00pm. On Saturday it starts at 10:30am and ends at 4:00pm. There will always be one committee member at each session to welcome you, and of course me on a Wednesday.
