What's on in Thorpe in the Glebe

Nottinghamshire, England

Village halls, community centres, and that one pub everyone knows about — Thorpe in the Glebe keeps its social calendar fuller than you'd expect, and here's the lot. From craft workshops and farmers' markets to quiz nights and coffee mornings, talks and screenings to book clubs and bingo. The events that make a place feel like home rather than just somewhere you happen to live. We've scoured parish council sites, library listings, venue pages, and community noticeboards to find everything happening near you. The stuff the big sites miss because they're too busy listing festivals fifty miles away.

Celebrating Cowslip Sunday in Lambley Village

As part of our May Day celebrations, on Sunday 3rd May,  a team from the Framework Knitters Museum will be based in Lambley Village Hall celebrating the lost springtime tradition of Cowslip Sunday. Lambley, just 6 miles north of Nottingham, was one of the prime sites for framework knitting during the nineteenth century. This was also the time when Cowslip Sunday was celebrated by the local stockingers and their families.
