Thornton-le-Dale sits right in the heart of North Yorkshire where the moors stretch out as far as you like to look. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway has been chugging along for years and there is always a market stall or two nearby for those who prefer their shopping on a Sunday morning. Not bad for a spot tucked away from the main road. Pub quizzes pop up through the week and the odd open mic night keeps things interesting in this quiet valley.
