Unearth the monastic secrets of a great abbey, now part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the daily routines of the monks who lived here on this guided tour. The abbey tour lasts one hour and will be run twice a day, seven days a week until Sunday 1 November. If you'd like to find out more, you can meet a guide in the abbey cloister, at 1pm and 3pm, where they'll be able to answer any of your questions and discuss the history of the ruins in more detail. Unfortunately, sometimes our volunteer guides aren't available and we have to cancel tours. Please ask the admission staff on your arrival for the tour schedule on that day.

Fountains Mill is the oldest building on the estate. Built by the Cistercians in the 12th century, the building has been adapted and modified over many years. Head to the circus tents on the ball games field and see what we've got in store for you. You’ll be hopping, skipping and jumping around different activity stations. Calling Pokémon fans new and old! This Summer of Play, Pokémon are jumping into the great outdoors near you. Are you ready to share the magic with a new generation? From 18 July - 6 September, on top of an already jam-packed Summer of Play, discover all-new Pokémon zones. Flex your skills and collect Mega Evolution stickers! Team up as a family to search for each Mega Evolution Pokémon, discover their powers, and complete your own challenges. Discover Pokémon zones in the Ball Games Field. Don’t forget your imagination… As well as all that excitement, challenge your friends and family to a game of soft archery. Who's going to win the space hopper racing? Hop on a balance bike and see who can reach the finish line first. And, if you still have some energy, head to the play area where inquisitive little minds can be let loose to play even more. While it's often thought that the abbey ruin is the reason for our World Heritage Site status, it's actually the water garden at Studley Royal. Join a guided tour to find out more about this artificially manipulated 'feat of human creative genius' designed by the Aislabie's in the 1700s. Start to see the abbey as the Georgians did; incorporated into the dramatic designed landscape and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Robes at the ready? Join us for a free family tour Step back in time and discover what life was really like as a monk at Fountains Abbey. Can you keep your vow of silence like the monks did? How many of the abbey rules could you stick to today? Put your skills to the test as you explore the abbey and find out what daily life was like hundreds of years ago. Got your own monk's robe? Bring it along! If not, don't worry – we have robes available to borrow so everyone can look the part. Grown-ups, you'll need to stay with your little monks throughout the tour. The good news? We have adult-sized robes too, so the whole family can join in the fun.
