What's on in Pimlico

Lancashire, England

Village halls, community centres, and that one pub everyone knows about — Pimlico keeps its social calendar fuller than you'd expect, and here's the lot. From craft workshops and farmers' markets to quiz nights and coffee mornings, talks and screenings to book clubs and bingo. The events that make a place feel like home rather than just somewhere you happen to live. We've scoured parish council sites, library listings, venue pages, and community noticeboards to find everything happening near you. The stuff the big sites miss because they're too busy listing festivals fifty miles away.

Edward Foster Renaissance Lute Concert live at Grindleton Pavilion – Sun, 31 May 2026, 16:00

A Relaxing Sunday Afternoon when you will be taken on a Musical Journey from Leonardo’s Renaissance Italy to Shakespeare’s England, at The Time of The Pendle Witches”. Performed by local artist and musician Edward Foster and special guest. In this beautiful concert Edward will be playing divine music from Europe from the 16th and early 17th Century on a Renaissance lute and vihuela. Edward will also delve into the Medieval period with music played on a medieval gittern, and will be joined by a special guest for this. He will also be playing compositions of his own written for lute. So popular was the lute at this time of Shakespeare that the Tudor Kings and Queens of England all played the lute and would have their own personal Royal luters. The lute also flourished in France and Germany as well as the Netherlands. Even Scotland had many great lute players and it’s music evokes the folk music of today. The music of the Italian Renaissance was just as beautiful as the more well known art of the time. Indeed, there were two characters named il divino (the divine) by contemporaries then. One was the sculptor and painter Michelangelo. The other was the composer and lutenist Francesco Da Milano. The vihuela was the equivalent of the Spanish lute in the 16th Century and many great compositions were written for it.
