Book clubs, bingo, and the occasional village fête that's surprisingly well organised — Britannia punches well above its weight for local events, and Lancashire's all the better for it. You'll find everything from craft workshops the kids won't stop asking about to open mic nights that are genuinely worth staying up past nine for. The big listings sites have never heard of half these venues, which is their loss and your gain. Parish council listings, community centre noticeboards, pub websites we've had to zoom in on to read properly — we've checked them all so you don't have to.

Cookery Classes

We're excited to announce monthly cookery classes here at the church! These are a continuation of the Community Connections Café, launched in October 2024 and funded by a grant from Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale Council for Voluntary Service. The grant period has now ended, but the Café was such a success that we would like to continue sharing food and conversation with new and returning faces. All attendees will get a chance to participate in the cooking process and share the meal we make. Classes are free to attend and you do not need to book on, just turn up on the day. These will be held on the last Thursday of the month in the Pyramid Room . If you attended one or more of our Cafés and enjoyed the art and craft element, don't worry: these will be included in another upcoming monthly event here. Watch this space! The next cookery class will take place on Thursday 24th July 11:00am-2:00pm , where the theme will be Switzerland. We hope you can join us then!

Councillors' Surgeries

We run a free film night upstairs in the Pyramid Room on the last Friday of every month from 7pm . Snacks and refreshments are provided and you do not need to book in advance to attend - just show up on the day. Donations to help with our running costs are greatly appreciated, but are not at all compulsory. We try to show a wide variety of films from all over the world, both classics and contemporary releases, but always with a theme we feel relevant to our religion and ethos of equality for all, or relevant to contemporary social issues. Though the films we show often cover serious topics, our film nights are always laid back and we encourage anyone to attend - our main aim is to bring people together for an inexpensive evening all can enjoy. The film for this month will be the amazing 20th Century Women (2016), directed by Mike Mills. Join us from 7pm on Friday 25th July to see it with us.
