Fownhope table tennis group, having started in 2005, runs regular weekly sessions from 10-12 every Wednesday morning throughout the year, each session costs just £2 pp. The group does not enter competitions or any leagues, but is a social and friendly group that enjoys playing for exercise and fun. Community Library

The Community Library was opened in 2012, with the help of the Parish Council and use of the Community Room at Faulkner House. It is a warm comfortable room with easy chairs and everyone is welcome for a chat and a cuppa. There is a large selection of fiction and non-fiction, and a strong section on local history, travel and walking books/OS maps. With over 5000 items including DVDs and CDs and a good choice of children’s books, there is something for everyone. We have excellent links with St Mary’s School and welcome pre-school children every Wednesday in term time to borrow books and hear a story. All residents of Fownhope and nearby villages are eligible to join and membership is free thanks to the friendly volunteer team, help from the Parish Council and donations from the Friends of Fownhope Library.

Woolhope Tennis Club is a friendly and welcoming place for anyone who enjoys tennis – whether you’re picking up a racket for the first time or looking to play more regularly. The club offers social tennis sessions every Tuesday at 9.30am and Wednesday from 7pm, providing the perfect opportunity to enjoy a game and meet new people. Village Evening at the Cricket Nets

Free use of the cricket nets for all Fownhope residents — no booking required, just turn up. The nets are open to everyone in the hour before the Strollers’ regular training session, with a Club officer on site throughout. After that, you’re welcome to stay on and join the training session itself — a great way to meet the team and have a go. Village Membership is not required for Village Evenings, but if you’d like to book the nets independently at other times, this is the perfect opportunity to complete your free induction. The sport is suitable for all ages – we have had members from the age of eleven up to the nineties. All you need is a bit of hand/eye coordination and a sense of humour when things don’t go the way you expected. Why not come along and find out whether this is your cup of tea?
