Rainy Day Picks This Weekend

11–12 July Near Black Rock

Not every listing gets a golden ticket

We check the usual frankly silly number of local websites, then look for events that feel rainy-day friendly: cinemas, theatres, talks, workshops, galleries, concerts, cosy venues, and anything less likely to involve standing in a muddy field making brave weather noises.

Happening Saturday 11 July to Sunday 12 July.
Picked for Black Rock, not somewhere halfway across the county.
Only Local Gems and Curated venues make the cut, because standards are still a thing.
Listings with proper descriptions get bumped up the list. Three words and a shrug will not do.

Worship our Lord

at Stroat Church

For all those who love to worship our Lord - we are pleased to invite you to Stroat on the second Sunday evening of each of the next three months. Ian and Amy of Lydney Christian Fellowship have offered to bring their Sunday evening worship service to Stroat once a month, along with their worship team and regular congregation. We pray that this will be a time to meet with God through our worship, and that he will draw us closer to him and each other, as well as making new friends and contacts. We would love to see you join us and add your voice in praise and blessing to God for what he has done for you - and to open your heart in worship.

The Hare Who Wrote The Stars7

The Hare Who Wrote The Stars

at The Forest of Dean and Wye Valley

Volume One Tongue returns to Clearwell Caves to share their new show : The Hare Who Wrote The stars. The culmination of three years writing across folk, trip and rock traditions, they bring a live band, puppets and Butoh dance, 100ft deep inside one of the UK's oldest mining networks. This is a handmade show. Expect avant-garde performance of live music, puppets and Butoh. Even though this is a summer performance, it will be cold underground (10 degrees), so make sure to wear warm clothing and flat soled footwear with a good grip.
