Rainy Day Picks This Weekend

11–12 July Near Maypole

Not every listing gets a golden ticket

We check the usual frankly silly number of local websites, then look for events that feel rainy-day friendly: cinemas, theatres, talks, workshops, galleries, concerts, cosy venues, and anything less likely to involve standing in a muddy field making brave weather noises.

Happening Saturday 11 July to Sunday 12 July.
Picked for Maypole, not somewhere halfway across the county.
Only Local Gems and Curated venues make the cut, because standards are still a thing.
Listings with proper descriptions get bumped up the list. Three words and a shrug will not do.

We then return to the Church for Communion or the end of the service. We would love for your little ones to join us and learn more of the stories of Jesus.

Bromley Young Engineers

at St Hugh's Community Centre

Bromley Young Engineers are bringing their fabulous Bricks Challenge program to St Hugh’s with sessions for youngsters aged 6-10 on Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings. Learn engineering, science and maths principles through building with bricks and blocks! Bricks Challenge is an educational program that introduces children to the principles of STEM and basic subjects of classical mechanics through the use of building blocks and mechanical parts. In each session, the day’s model and the day’s engineering principles are introduced. To make the topic more relatable, an interactive story related to the subject is optionally narrated. The children then construct their models, enhance them for further experimentation, and sometimes modify them for competitions. The session concludes with reinforcing questions to solidify the children’s grasp of the concepts they’ve learned. Book your young person’s spot on the Young Engineers site
