Hornsey Rise sits snugly in north London, right where the A103 cuts through the leafy suburbs of Muswell Hill and Kilburn. You can find a bit of live music at Highview without needing to drive all the way into the city centre. It is a quiet corner that still manages to pack quite a punch for evening entertainment. Local families often pop in after school to catch a show or grab a bite before heading home. The area feels like a proper neighbourhood rather than just another stretch of road between the M1 and the river. Spring 2026 - Magnolia by Judy Head

This painting of our Magnolia was completed in the spring of this year. The magnolia tree is one of the first to welcome the spring with a magnificent display of pink and white bracts on her bare winter branches. The leaves follow, growing larger during the summer months, and as the bracts fade the catkins emerge. Painted on hand-made Japanese paper using traditional black Sumi and coloured mineral inks. Float mounted and framed in natural Ash. The chop beneath the signature is a monogram of my initials. The second chop describes the mood of the image, Dancing Brush.
