(Tours, which last about 75 minutes, are free but donations are invited) Meet your inside the West Door of Selby Abbey to explore the history of the first monastery to be established in the North of England after the arrival of William the Conqueror in 1066. Wonder at the amazing Romanesque and Gothic architecture and hear how, despite two great fires, the collapse of the central tower and the dissolution of the monasteries in the 16th Century, Selby Abbey has survived as a vibrant place of pilgrimage, events, prayer and worship. Here is a little bit from Sophie about Feathersteps: We are a friendly dance school run by Sophie E. Brooke, an IDTA Qualified Professional with 26 years dance experience, which includes National Competitions, IDTA Medal Exams and Dance Event Organisation. Learning to dance is incredibly rewarding in many different ways. It is an excellent activity which helps all ages to stay fit physically, mentally and socially, and is a wonderful skill that gets people talking! We specialise in Ballroom, Latin and Salsa in group classes, but do offer lots of other dance style tuition, plus the all important Wedding “First Dance”. Our dance school also boasts excellent opportunities for live music events and themed dance evenings! From absolute beginners to experienced and seasoned dancers, we have something to suit everyone, offering various levels of classes at different venues around the Selby and Goole districts.
