Experience quiet and stillness for an extended time, within supportive company in a beautiful, nurturing setting. In an increasingly frenetic world, with so many competing demands for our time and attention, this silent retreat offers a precious opportunity for spaciousness and stillness. You’ll be in a safe and supportive setting, allowing you to deepen into mindfulness practice and your experience of silence, in the tranquil setting of Sharpham House and Estate. This 3-night retreat is a chance to turn inward and to let go of the daily struggles that can so easily get in the way of the simplicity, freedom and joy in each present moment. There will be a maximum of 28 participants on this retreat. This is one of our most spacious and least structured retreats and as such is for people who already have prior experience of being on a retreat or of mindfulness meditation. If you are new to mindfulness and retreats, you might like to consider joining our Mindfulness for Beginners retreats, which run on a monthly basis. Antiques Roadshow, Dartington Estate

Fiona Bruce and the Antiques Roadshow team will be back on the road this spring and summer filming series 49 which includes a visit to the beautiful and historic Dartington Estate, near Totnes. Admission is strictly by ticket only, and applications are now open for free tickets with limited places - click below. The team are hunting for a wide range of antiques, family heirlooms and vintage treasures. The Roadshow will feature specialists in the fields of jewellery, silver, ceramics and glass, pictures, rare books, clocks and watches, and militaria, as well as a team of experts with knowledge of all things collectable–from vintage fashion to furniture, from music and film memorabilia to collectable toys, from Art Deco to ancient antiquities.

Head of the Dart- SUP Challenge

The Head of the Dart SUP Challenge is an annual event in April and sees more than 250 paddlers taking part, making it the largest SUP event in the UK. Each year, paddlers come together to complete the 14km course along the River Dart taking in the beautiful Devon countryside running between the historic town of Dartmouth and Totnes, alternating directions every year. It is traditionally seen as the season opener, with paddlers travelling from all of the country, and further afield! Paddlers have the option to take part in the challenge either as part of the race or leisure fleet. Prizes are awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in the race fleets, with a raffle (made up with donations from our sponsors) available for those taking part in the leisure fleet. All participants collect a finishers medal at the end and timings published on our website. The event is seen as a “must do” and regularly sells out within minutes! Due to the good old British weather, paddlers can be faced with conditions from sunshine and rain to wind. As a result, we take the safety of everyone very seriously and work with the local rowing clubs to ensure safety boats are provided along the route. Contingency plans are also in place should conditions be unsuitable, meaning alternative course routes are used.
