As part of the Buxton International Festival's return with another summer of world class music and unforgettable storytelling, the Festival is thrilled to present this much loved masterpiece, La traviata by Giuseppe Verdi: a Buxton International Festival and Norwich Theatre production featuring the Buxton International Festival Orchestra.Step into the glittering world of nineteenth century Paris as one of opera's most unforgettable love stories takes centre stage. La traviata is Verdi at full brilliance, weaving a tale that shimmers with glamour, passion, and heartbreak. At its heart is Violetta, a woman adored by society yet living a life defined by fragility and compromise. When the earnest and hopeful Alfredo enters her world, she dares to imagine a future shaped by love rather than expectation. Their romance is intoxicating, but the world they inhabit is quick to judge, and their happiness comes under threat from the very forces they long to escape.This new production brings together a world class creative team and exceptional cast to tell the story with freshness, colour, and emotional depth. Buxton Flowerpot Trail 2026

An annual town trail during Buxton’s summer festivals and school holidays featuring wonderful and rather silly flowerpot creations. A great way to explore the town with the family. Trail maps can be purchased from the Buxton Visitor Centre in the Pump Room and Poole’s Cavern Visitor Centre during July and August or downloaded from the Funny Wonders website . The Buxton Flowerpot Trail in 2026 will take place during July and August. The theme is Children’s Stories.

Ewan Millar is a leading young UK oboe soloist, a BBC Young Musician 2020 finalist, and the 2025 Royal Over-Seas League Gold Medal winner.
