Perhaps Peter has had too much chamomile tea this time, because there are some tiny golden versions of him around the bookshop! Can you spot them all? My Dear Beatrix

It may be a dying art, but writing letters is how Beatrix Potter’s ‘little books’ began. In a handwritten letter to Noel Moore, the first son of her last governess, Beatrix wrote, ‘My dear Noel, I don’t know what to write to you, so I shall tell you a story about four little rabbits whose names were - Flopsy, Mopsy, Cottontail and Peter.’ In 2025, to celebrate 120 years since Beatrix Potter purchased Hill Top with the money she made from her ‘little books’, we collected letters to Beatrix Potter from anyone who loves her, her work, or the Lake District that she protected and used as inspiration. Her fans across the world started their letter with ‘My Dear Beatrix…’ and posted it to Hill Top. Now we display them for everyone to see, ready to inspire discussions on the incredible woman behind the beloved tales and the Lake District she helped protect. Why not come and add your letter to the display? There will be letter writing supplies available and tables to sit at.
