Peer Gynt – A Comedy of Terrors

Miracle Theatre present a wildly inventive and darkly comic reimagining of Ibsen’s classic, brought to life with theatrical flair and irreverent humour. Young Peer is a lazy dreamer, who misinterprets Shakespeare’s advice “To thine own self be true” to mean “Look after number one”! He chases after riches and pleasure and lives a life of moral failure and endless excuses. Surely, he will come to no good? Loosely based on Ibsen’s epic comedy, this famous morality tale is perfect material for Miracle Theatre’s highly visual style – physical, funny, surreal and deeply human – a journey through the dream-like world of Norse mythology, peopled with cranky characters, trolls and other bizarre creatures – a comedy of terrors! The tour blends storytelling with outdoor settings. People are encouraged to bring blankets, low backed chairs, picnics, friends, family and a sense of adventure. Book tickets here.

Festival Players - The Comedy of Errors

Welcoming The Festival Players with Shakespeare’s most chaotic comedy — a joyful whirlwind of mistaken identities, physical comedy and musical mischief. Set in the Greek city of Ephesus, The Comedy of Errors tells the story of two sets of identical twins who were accidentally separated at birth. Antipholus of Syracuse and his servant, Dromio of Syracuse, arrive in Ephesus, which turns out to be the home of their twin brothers, Antipholus of Ephesus and his servant, Dromio of Ephesus. When the Syracusans encounter the friends and families of their twins, a series of wild mishaps based on mistaken identities lead to wrongful beatings, a near-seduction, the arrest of Antipholus of Ephesus, and false accusations of infidelity, theft, madness, and demonic possession. The Comedy of Errors is one of William Shakespeare's earliest plays. It is his shortest and one of his most farcical comedies, with a major part of the humour coming from slapstick, mistaken identity as well as puns and word play.
