Reading sits pretty in Berkshire with a few places that keep the calendar full without needing a lottery ticket. The Town Hall hosts those serious talks and community gatherings, while the Carey Centre usually has a fair or festival going on if you fancy a wander. It is not hard to find something to do when the town hall is hosting its usual functions. You can head down to the Monks' Retreat for a quiet chat or catch a show at one of the local halls.
