We will start at 11.00 am by Tansley church. SK 323 599 off the A615 Matlock – Alfreton road. There is street parking to be had in various spots on the road through the village. We will go through fields and woodland across Knabhall Lane to Allen Lane and Holestone Gate Road. Lunch will be taken near Turningstone Edge before retracing our steps to return via Old Engine Farm, Packhorse Farm, Knabhall and Whitelea Lanes. Distance about five and a half miles with just one short steepish bit as we climb out of Tansley.

Windgather Family Meet

Family meet at Windgather Rocks, parking at SJ993782 (just on the road underneath the crag). It’s a lovely short crag with features that are very child-friendly. We’ll be bringing a 3 and 5 year old but all families welcome. We’ll be setting up some top ropes and pads for the children and plan to have a sociable picnic at the crag. We have a couple of kids harnesses for younger ones if anyone needs to share.

Northumberland, 12 -18 June

Northumberland has lots of quality crags, predominantly high quality hard sandstone with a good span of grades, so great for grit aficionados, or even lovers of sandstone: I’ve really enjoyed the Staffordshire variety in the past. Camping is at Highburn House which has good facilities, electric/non electric pitches and is only a short walk to Wooler, a nice market town and one of the driest places I’ve noted when weather watching. Inform them that you are Oread when booking (lots of campsites were fully booked when I enquired so recommend reserving a place asap).

The Fylde M. C. cottage at Little Langdale (NY3157903030) is well positioned for most kinds of outdoor activities, walking, climbing or chilling out. Great Langdale is a shortish drive away with all the climbing you could wish for. A glance at a map will show you all the possibilities of the area.

Tan yr Wyddfa – Working Party,

This year we have a change to the format of the last few years. The usual suspects have been taking advantage of a free stay at the hut midweek. This is quite selfish and precludes our younger members, who have to work for their living, from taking part. So this year a weekend is included to let them have the benefit of a free stay too, in return for a few hours work. There’s always time for a route or course they are welcome to stay on if they wish! The hut is reserved for members bookings only so book yourself in online and let me know you are coming.
