We’re building a community of rural pioneers in the East Midlands. Come and join our regular gatherings for some much-needed prayer, support and encouragement! Rural Mission Hub: 17th September 2026 Are you engaged in pioneering ministry in a rural context? Looking for some quality time with colleagues to share and pray together? Launde Abbey and Rural Ministries are holding a Rural Mission Hub event at the Abbey to create space for engagement and reflection. This rural mission hub day includes led reflection, time for personal prayer, mutual learning, shared wisdom and companionship with others in rural pioneering ministry. It will be run jointly by members of the Launde Abbey Community and the Rural Ministries team. Each Rural Mission Hub gathering is at a special price of £12, which includes lunch and refreshments throughout the day. The special price for this event is made possible by financial support from Rural Ministries. The Rural Mission Hub at Launde Abbey is a partnership between Launde Abbey and Rural Ministries. June Saturday Quiet Day: Praying Through the Hymns We Love

Praying Through the Hymns We Love On this Quiet Day, musician and priest Rev’d Dr Becky Warner will be offering some ways of praying and reflecting with God through some of the nation’s favourite hymns.  Looking at hymns about stillness, and hymns about our walk through life with God, there will be an opportunity to allow the words and music of the hymns to lead us into prayer, to listen to how they might resonate with our lives, and to ponder the questions they may be prompting us to reflect on. Led by Rev’d Dr Becky Applin Warner Becky was priested at the end of June 2025 and is the Assistant Curate at St Paul’s. Becky is a musician, mostly working as a theatre composer after originally training to compose for film. She is also a researcher, author and lecturer in musical theatre. She grew up and studied in Cambridge, and now lives in a small rural village outside Ely. She loves nature and the outdoors, as well as all things creative. June Saturday Quiet Day: Praying with the Hymns We Love

PRAYING WITH THE HYMNS WE LOVE On this Quiet Day, musician and priest Rev’d Dr Becky Warner will be offering some ways of praying and reflecting with God through some of the nation’s favourite hymns. In the morning, we will look at hymns about our walk through life with God, including Guide Me O Thou Great Redeemer, Be Thou My Vision, I the Lord of Sea and Sky. In the afternoon we will focus on hymns about stillness and refreshment, including Be Still My Soul, Be Still for the Presence of the Lord, and Dear Lord and Father of Mankind. Guidance will be given to allow the words and music of the hymns to lead us into prayer, to listen to how they might resonate with our lives, and to ponder the questions they may be prompting us to reflect on. There will also be an optional opportunity to write some lyrics of your own if you so wish. The day will offer encouragement and refreshment through the music and storytelling of the hymns we love. LED BY REV’D DR BECKY APPLIN WARNER Becky balances life as both musician and priest. She was priested at the end of June 2025 and serves as the Curate at St Paul’s Church, Cambridge. Becky’s musical life mostly revolves around writing music for theatre, writing new musicals and family shows, and she was the first woman to receive the Cameron Mackintosh Resident Composer Award.

Be Thou My Vision John Rackley will offer three short meditations on this beautiful Irish poem, whose origins can be traced back to the early days of Celtic Christianity and has written a liturgy based on the hymn created by Eleanor Henrietta Hull to close the day we may share together. He intends this to be an opportunity for us to reflect on the heights and depths of our relationship with God. Led by Revd John Rackley. He is a member of Launde Abbey’s College of Chaplains and is minister at Christchurch a Baptist-Methodist LEP in Clarendon Park, Leicester. He writes for the Bible Reading Fellowship and has recently completed a series on Paul’s hymn to Love. Soul Filled Meanderings

Take a couple of hours and explore and experience God’s creation. This is an opportunity to stop, look and listen. Using all your senses to know and understand more about our Everlasting Father and Creator God. This guided walk will be led by Jo de Graaf. Jo lives in Harby in the beautiful Vale of Belvoir with her husband, Cor. They have five children and Jo is a very proud Oma to 10 grandchildren, who bring the family such joy. A few years ago she felt God prompting and calling her to some form of ministry. Jo believes her ministry is to bring people into God’s Kingdom through love; using contemplative spirituality, hospitality and service of all kinds to help people feel a sense of wholeness within the love of God. Not only is Jo one of our volunteer chaplains, but is now the Associate Minister in the Parish of Old Dalby, and also Lay Chair of Framland Deanery. This walk is planned to begin at 2:30 pm. Meet at the front of the main house. Why not arrive early for lunch at Launde Abbey café? Suitable for all abilities. Alternative activities are available if the weather is wet. Price: £5 per person. Places are limited to groups of 10, so please book in advance. This price includes refreshments and a lovely homemade slice of cake from Launde Abbey.
