Visitors will be able to go on guided walks, meet the farm animals, and take a tour of the micro- wool mill. Farmers Donald and Donna will be on hand to answer questions about our 19th century restored wool carder, how we process wool, and what farming on a centuries-old, nature friendly, hill farm is like. Visitors will be able to offer feedback about our plans to turn The Hirsel into a community farm, and to sign up to get involved in farm projects. Farm produce - mutton and eggs - will be available for purchase, and hot drinks will be provided free of charge. Appropriate footwear is required, as the terrain is uneven, and children must be accompanied by adults at all times. Free entry. About this farm: The Hirsel is a nature friendly farm raising heritage breed livestock in the Scottish Highlands. We don’t use pest/herbicides, and fertilizer comes directly from our Hebridean sheep in a rotational grazing system. We’ve been ‘highly commended’ by the RBST for our work, and are the host farm for Highland Wool CIC, a micro-mill working with local farms to help bring value back to our wool harvest. Highlights: Sheep; Pigs; Poultry; Fruit; Environmental stewardship; Other Booking details: link to follow
