About this event
Wednesday 26 August, 10:30 - 15:00, Woolwich Works, SE18 6HD and a final showcase performance in Sloane Square, Chelsea on Saturday 19 September NYJO's Second Line Summer Showcase This project is for young people aged 12 – 18, who are either grades 3 and above on a brass or woodwind instrument, or are interested in joining our samba percussion section (no samba drumming experience necessary). NYJO Lead Educator and Resident MD, Vij Prakash, will introduce you to the joyful, communal music tradition of the Second Line brass band, as you learn how to play arrangements of contemporary artists like Ezra Collective and Kokoroko entirely by ear. This music is loud, vibrant, and all about making its audience want to dance! This project will finish with a showcase performance of your hard work in Sloane Square as part of this year’s Chelsea Arts Festival, giving you the chance to perform in a large-scale public event as part of a NYJO ensemble! To take part in this project, please fill in the registration form by no later than the end of the day on Friday 14 August.
