As part of the Lillingstone Lectures, there shall be a fascinating illustrated lecture exploring the realities of traditional Arctic travel by dog sled through the remote landscapes of Labrador, inspired by the legacy of Sir Wilfred Grenfell and the enduring cultures of the North. Neil Pepper FRGS FZSL, a railway professional living in Buckinghamshire, has over 25 years of Arctic dog sledding experience, travelling widely by dog team along the remote and challenging Labrador Coast of eastern Canada. His experiences extend across much of the High Arctic, including Alaska, the Yukon, and Svalbard, giving him a unique and personal insight into both the beauty and the hardships of life in these little-known regions. The lecture will explore the challenges of traditional dog-sled travel, the remote environment of Labrador, Arctic wildlife and ecology, Indigenous peoples, culture, traditions and modern challenges associated with life in isolated north Tea and coffee will be served from 5.45pm The Lillingstone Lectures are a series of free lectures held at the Royal Latin School that are open to all members of the local community, not only to Royal Latin School families.
