Join us for an afternoon of new writing and poetry to celebrate the closing of Okiki Akinfe’s exhibition RM9 5AN. Peer Ambassadors is an alternative, participant-led ‘art school’ that works with and supports young people aged 17-25 from underrepresented and working-class backgrounds based in Hackney and Tower Hamlets. Working in collaboration with Shoreditch Library, the 2026 cohort of Peer Ambassadors are spending time with artists, writers and historians to explore creative writing, storytelling and overlooked local histories. For this event, they will host an afternoon of readings, which respond to Akinfe’s exhibition, as well as their own experiences of memory, identity, and place-making. This event is free, with a suggested donation of £3. Booking is required. To reserve your spot please click here. Peer aims to be open and accessible to all. We’ve updated the structure of the evening to make it even easier to stay focused and actually leave feeling accomplished. New structure 6–9pm → focused work blocks 9–10pm → social hour The final hour is for relaxing a bit, chatting to people, sharing what you worked on, meeting other women doing life/business/creative projects and enjoying the reward of having actually got things done. Bring your laptop, notebook, life admin, overdue tasks, unfinished plans or whatever you’ve been avoiding. Big or small, if it needs doing, bring it.
