feast of St Mary Magdalene - 22 july 2026 ST MARY MAGDALENE IS THE MOST PROMINENT OF THE GROUP OF WOMEN WHO ACCOMPANIED JESUS AND THE APOSTELS AND PROVIDED FOR THEM OUT OF THEIR OWN RESOURCES (LK 8:2-3). OFTEN CONFUSED WITH OTHER MARYS IN THE GOSPELS OR PRESUMED TO HAVE HAD A SINFUL PAST, SHE IS NAMED IN THE GOSPELS AS HAVING SEEN JESUS CRUCIFIED AND BURIED AND THEN, EARLY ON EASTER MORNING, HAVING MET THE RISEN LORD (JN 20:11-18) WHO TOLD HER TO GO AND TELL THE APOSTELS. HENCE SHE IS CALLED 'APOSTEL TO THE APOSTLES'. POPE FRANCES RAISED HER MEMORIAL TO THE RANK OF FEAST. We shall have a special Mass on Wednesday 22 July at 7 p.m. in St Paul’s.
