@ No.1 ‘Tal-y-llyn’ at Nant Gwernol, A blend of a 2020s photo with an 1870s photo – Luke Ryan & Talyllyn Collection The Talyllyn Railway is unique in that both original locomotives and all the passenger carriages that were built for the opening of the Railway in the mid-1860s survive to this day and are still in regular use, so let us invite you to step back in time to the Era of Queen Victoria and travel through untouched and unparalleled Snowdonian scenery aboard The Victorian Train. From left to Right: No.1 ‘Tal-y-llyn’, built in 1864, and No.2 ‘Dolgoch’, built in 1866, posed for a photograph at Pendre c.1903 – Talyllyn Collection The train will be hauled by No.1 ‘Tal-y-llyn’ or No.2 ‘Dolgoch’, two of the oldest working steam locomotives in the World.The Victorian Train departs Tywyn Wharf Station at 11am and at 2:10pm.Along the way there will be a stop at Dolgoch Station where you can alight from the train and watch the engine take water from the original slate water column, fed straight from the impressive Dolgoch Falls. Each Victorian Train day will be a little different rom the last, with different combintions of rolling stock utilised – some will be a double header with the Talyllyn and Dolgoch while and others will have heritage slate waggons form part of the train!
