About this event
Join experienced stonemason Alex Macey for a creative and hands-on introduction to the ancient craft of stone carving, inspired by the flowing forms and symbolism of Celtic design. In this workshop, you’ll be guided through the process of carving your own Celtic-inspired motif into local sandstone. Alex will introduce you to traditional masonry tools and techniques, showing you how to shape, texture and bring depth to your design, transforming a simple piece of stone into something truly personal. With over 18 years’ experience working on heritage buildings and historic stonework, Alex brings a wealth of knowledge and a calm, supportive teaching style. Whether you’re completely new to stone carving or have some experience, you’ll be encouraged to work at your own pace and develop your skills with confidence. By the end of the session, you’ll leave not only with your own carved piece, but also a deeper appreciation for this timeless craft. All tools and materials are provided, just bring your enthusiasm! Suitable for beginners and beyond.
