About this event
Step into Ushaw and experience The Conversation Room – a programme of inspiring and thought-provoking sessions designed to spark curiosity, invite reflection, and ignite meaningful discussion. Bringing together voices from a wide range of fields, these gatherings explore architecture, history, religion, wellbeing, and more – all within the beautifully atmospheric setting of the Francis Thompson session is hosted by a guest contributor and encourages open minds and thoughtful exchange. Confirmed talks take place at 6:30pm on the following dates: 18 March - The Music of the Passion Christian faith has never been merely an affair of ideas. From the beginning, the Church has expressed its belief in embodied prayer: enacted in gesture, in movement, and above all in sound. The story of Christ’s suffering has not only been read, but proclaimed, sung, and re-enacted by the gathered community. When the Passion is given voice, the Gospel leaves the page and enters the present moment: it is heard, felt, and shared. What we encounter is not just sacred music, but the Word made audible among us. 6 May - Commonwealth War Graves Commission Join Graham Blount from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission for an engaging discussion on the vital work of commemorating and caring for the resting places of Commonwealth servicemen and women.
