Hand Embroidery - Textured Textiles

Textiles and embroidery are so tactile and perfect to use to create a new dimension to your work. In this creative workshop you’ll explore different hand embroidery stitches and techniques to add texture in to textiles including creating and removing layers, using unusual materials, combining materials, using stitch to create perceived texture, using sandpaper and much more. The morning is dedicated to experimenting with a range of techniques creating a mini series of samples to inspire future work. The afternoon is spent putting these new found skills into place and creating a piece of textile art, full of stitch and texture that is unique to you. By the end of the workshop you will have learnt many ways to add texture to textiles, have a series of mini samples and a piece of beautiful, unique artwork. The workshop is suitable for people of all levels of embroidery experience from the complete beginner to the more accomplished embroiderer.
