Having completed undergraduate training at Leeds University, he continued to work in the region before undertaking 2 years of acute and critical care training in Western Australia. Working in cardiovascular, neuro, and trauma intensive care, he has an interest in point-of-care ultrasound and teaches heart, lung, and abdominal ultrasound in his role as a FUSIC mentor. He has an interest in education and in his role with the FICM education sub-committee he developed the FICM learning podcast.
