Starting with a background to H G Wells and three of his works; War of the Worlds, The Time Machine and Things to Come, their themes and intended subtexts. Leading to a deeper look at how War of the Worlds has been interpreted and reinterpreted through the film, TV versions and Jeff Wayne's musical - which remains the most faithful! Barry is a regular contributor for the Wilkie Collins Society, he narrates local history videos for the Blackpool Gazette, he has presented talks at Showtown Museum and is a freelance writer and storyteller with an avid interest in science fiction and horror.
