The Gardens after hours Join us for special late openings of the Castle Howard Gardens this summer. Explore after hours and enjoy pizza served in the Fitzroy Cafe, live music in the Boar Garden, and a drawing workshop from 6pm at the Library of the Four Winds art installation. The Walled Garden will also be open to explore. 3pm - Tickets available from this time, with last entry into the Grounds at 7pm 5.30pm - Pizza service starts at the Fitzroy Cafe 6pm - Drawing Workshop at the Library of the Four Winds 7pm - Last entry to the Grounds, please arrive in advance of this time 7pm - Band begins 8pm - Evening draws to a close More information on the Library of the Four Winds A luminous new revolving artwork which takes over the Temple of the Four Winds, created by internationally renowned artist and designer Es Devlin. The artwork honours the National Year of Reading, and celebrates the Temple as a place originally designed by Castle Howard’s architect Sir John Vanbrugh, as a place for reading and refreshments. The Temple, on the edge of Castle Howard’s Gardens, will be surrounding by four concentric tables, where you can read, draw, talk, eat and listen. A magnificent sculpture made from hundreds of books is inside the Temple, with books curated from the personal libraries of Vanbrugh and Devlin. Visitors of all ages are invited to pause and join in communal reading. Summer Garden Lates will take place on Friday 3rd July, Friday 7th August and Friday 4th September.
