Taking place on Sunday 27 September 2026, The BIG Walk is a Dorset charity walking event that welcomes individuals, families, friends, workplaces and community groups to take on a challenge while raising vital funds for Dorset Mind. Set against the backdrop of Dorset’s stunning coastline, participants can choose between two walking challenges designed to suit different abilities and goals. Our 30K Coastal Challenge is the ultimate challenge, taking walkers from Sandbanks to Hengistbury Head and back along one of Dorset’s most beautiful coastal routes. This full-day fundraising walk is ideal for those looking to push themselves, take on a personal challenge or complete a memorable walking event. For those looking for a shorter and more accessible option, our 5K Wellbeing Walk starts at Sandbanks and heads towards Branksome Chine Beach. This route is suitable for all ages and abilities, including families, first-time charity walkers and anyone wanting to take part at their own pace. As Dorset Mind’s flagship annual walking event, The BIG Walk is about more than distance. It is about bringing people together, enjoying the outdoors, connecting with others and raising awareness and funds for mental health support across the county.
