Join us for an afternoon tea and talk by Andy Gibbs, former manager of the British Schools Museum, who will take you on a journey of the life of the Poor Child's Friend, Joseph Lancaster. What were his revolutionary ideas that changed education across the globe? What was the key to his initial successes, what were the challenges he fought against in his entire life, and what was the incredible legacy he left behind? The talk will also explore the influence of his school in Hitchin and the local history of education. Please arrive by 3:30 pm, when tea and cake will be served for you to enjoy during the talk (included in ticket price). We look forward to welcoming you for an enjoyable afternoon of good company and memories to share at the Museum.
