From its medieval beginnings, romantic renewal, 19th century revival and modern re-invention, Gothic has long offered people a way to express who they are, and to navigate the ideas, emotions and challenges of their time. Brought together at Tyntesfield, the selected artworks will encourage audiences to see the house in a new way as a place where the Gothic spirit continues to inspire and evolve. With diverse artistic voices and responses, the exhibition will demonstrate that while Gothic emerged from specific historical contexts, it has grown into a creative space that is open to everyone.
