Get the full details

Write on a slate, help with the washing, learn to pick oakum. Meet our costumed characters and come and find out what life was like within The Workhouse. Listen to their stories as you encounter the inmates doing their daily jobs. Normal admission charges apply. Last entry one hour before closing. There will be 3 storytelling sessions at 11:30am, 12:30pm and 2pm. Each session will last 30 minutes. Booking not required.

Wellness Walks

On the last Friday of every month, excluding December, the Workhouse Walkers will take you on a different walk to discover the many footpaths around Southwell. Come and enjoy a chat, see what nature you can spot along the way and learn more about the local area. Each walk starts and ends at The Workhouse and is approximately 75 minutes long, with a shorter option of 30 minutes available.

Come along and explore how sunlight moves through The Workhouse & Infirmary, uncovering the stories of residents through secret sundials, candlelit corners, and the architecture that framed their days. Highlighted through the property by a handcrafted sunflower made by our textile volunteers.

Summer of Play at The Workhouse and Infirmary

Stack ‘em high and watch ‘em fly as you enjoy a game of Tin Can Alley, capture the speedy Bishop in our new game of Chess Catcher, hunt for the wooden spoons in A Spoonful of Gruel or enjoy traditional board games… all with a Workhouse Twist. There’s fun for the whole family this summer at the Workhouse and Infirmary… but remember to keep a watchful eye out for the Master. All games included in standard admission.
