Local History Workshop: The Cloth Industry and Protest

About this event

Hundreds of people did jobs to do with making woollen cloth in the Stroud area in the past. What jobs did they do? And what was it like to do this work? Find out about some of these jobs by trying to card and spin some wool, trying some simple weaving and by exploring a picture of Wallbridge in Stroud from around 230 years ago. Think about what it felt like to do some of these jobs and some of the protests that workers of the past took part in. Find out about other causes people have protested for in Stroud and make your own mini banner to reflect something you care about or a message for the future. This session is led by the Learning Officer from the Museum in the Park. If you can't make this time or it is fully booked, see below for other times the session is running. Free to attend. Children must be accompanied by an adult but please only book a space for the number of children wishing to attend.
