Have you ever wished to sit and sketch outdoors but don't know where to start or wish to have some pointers on how to create beautifully illustrated pages? Then this introductory course is for you. Imagine illustrating a page that could record the seasons and includes recipes, poems, verses and more - a family heirloom! Join artist Wendi New to learn illustration techniques and develop your own page designs for nature journalling. The day will start with you getting a feel for page layout, composition and calligraphic skills using mixed media. There will be demonstrations, discussion and experimenting to create pages that will be included in your own journal. Over the day you will take a few trips outdoors to sketch in nature, using different surfaces and materials (shown in each demonstration). We will record the local area with annotated illustrated pages. Using different illustration styles for each page you will work with inks, pencil crayon, charcoal, pastels and also watercolours. This course will fill you full of ideas and a passion for nature art journaling. The day will fly by as you get absorbed with designing pages, creating textures, patterns, backgrounds and also playing with lettering styles to enhance your illustrated pages. This course is suitable for all levels. Please note there is an £8 materials charge payable on the day.
