Huw Clement-Evans – Oboe Meyrick Alexander – Bassoon Richard Ormrod – Piano Ensemble Cymru bring us an enthralling programme which spans the centuries. J. S. Bach’s Sonata in Eb minor, BWV1031, will represent the pre-industrial age and will be followed by Schumann’s Adagio and Allegro in Ab major for Oboe and Piano, Opus 70, representing the age of the Industrial Revolution which made possible the building of Telford’s bridge. The Post Industrial Revolution period will be covered by Francis Poulenc’s Trio for Oboe, Bassoon and Piano, FP43, and the premiere of a piece commissioned jointly by Ensemble Cymru and the Festival from local composer, Mared Emlyn, will celebrate Telford’s genius in a contemporary but approachable idiom. Sponsored by Dr John and Mrs Susan Osley. There are no set admission charges to festival concerts. Audiences are invited to contribute to a collection at the end of each performance towards the very considerable costs involved in running the festival. www.conwyclassicalmusic.co.uk/
