A welcome return of this vibrant, madcap group! Their repertoire focuses on popular music from the 16th and 17th centuries and traditional world music in the spirit of a medieval and renaissance Carnival using a kaleidoscope of instruments: fiddle, shawms, bagpipes, electric guitar, cittern, Turkish clarinet and vocal harmony. ‘ Full of vivacity, originality and wit – their music is almost impossible to categorise . One number started out as an old Swedish waltz and ended up to the left of Lonnie Donegan’. ‘The Carnival Band – aka Henry VIII’s Rock’n Roll band – created glorious chaos at The Courtyard!’ (Hereford Times)
