Zanshin Karate

At the start of 2015 Zanshin Karate Academy was formed by sensei Brian Bates 5th Dan. He wanted a club that reflected the type of training he was being exposed to on the open seminar circuit and the type of training he was doing at the different clubs he attended. The club takes a more pragmatic approach to its training by applying basic karate techniques against habitual acts of violence rather than the long range applications you often see at mainstream karate clubs. Most of our training revolves around kata where alongside the solo form you will learn partner drills that will transition to pad drills then finally to live practice (sparring). Although karate is predominantly a striking art, through Zanshin’s syllabus you will gain a broad set of skills including throws, chokes, and locks.
