Therapeutic Art – Free Creative Wellbeing Sessions Join us for Therapeutic Art Workshops, a series of free, therapeutic art sessions for adults in Barnsley, delivered by Art for Wellness CIC and supported by the Lottery Fund. These gentle, accessible workshops offer a calm and friendly space to slow down, get creative, and connect with others through mindful artmaking. Each session combines simple creative activities with mindfulness, supporting relaxation, emotional wellbeing, and a sense of connection. No previous art experience is needed and all materials are provided. Whether you’re feeling isolated, managing stress or anxiety, or simply looking for a welcoming creative outlet, you are very welcome to attend. Sessions take place at Tesco at Stairfoot in the Community Room and are led by experienced facilitators from Art for Wellness CIC, a community interest company dedicated to creating inclusive, supportive creative spaces that nurture wellbeing and belonging. These workshops are about more than making art — they’re about taking time for yourself, building confidence, and being part of a supportive community. Therapeutic Art Workshops – Creative Wellbeing Sessions Join us for our Monday Therapeutic Art Workshops, a welcoming series of creative wellbeing sessions designed to support relaxation, mindfulness, confidence, and connection through art. Starting at 10:15 am, these gentle and accessible workshops provide a calm, friendly space where adults can slow down, get creative, and enjoy mindful artmaking alongside others in the community. Each session includes a variety of therapeutic creative activities such as art journaling, painting, colouring, mixed media, embroidery, mindfulness, and sensory art. The workshops are designed to help reduce stress, improve well-being, encourage self-expression, and build social connections in a supportive environment. No previous art experience is needed and everyone is encouraged to work at their own pace. All materials are provided, and participants receive their own art journal and folder to safely store artwork, unfinished projects, and creative ideas to bring along each week. If the planned activity for the day is not something you wish to take part in, there is always the opportunity to continue previous projects, colour, or bring along your own creative craft work to enjoy during the session. Look Around the Garden

Look Around the Garden – Free Creative Wellbeing Sessions At Art for Wellness CIC, we love working with local partners, including community gardens, community centres, libraries, wellness groups, and wellbeing charities. These collaborations help us reach a wide range of adults and ensure our sessions are welcoming, inclusive, and easy to access. We’re excited to launch our “Look Around the Garden” programme for 2026–2027, funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, taking place across Barnsley and Penistone. Each workshop offers a friendly small-group setting, with around ten places available, creating a calm and supportive environment where everyone can feel comfortable. The sessions are designed for adults who would like to improve their wellbeing, reduce stress, and build confidence through creativity. Every session is led by two experienced artists and includes a range of relaxing creative activities such as: Painting Mixed media art Embroidery and textile work Seasonal sensory activities inspired by nature You don’t need any art experience — just a willingness to try something new and enjoy time in a supportive, creative space. Our workshops bring people together to relax, create, and connect, helping participants feel part of a welcoming community. Many people who attend tell us they leave feeling calmer, more positive, and more motivated.
