Every Saturday evening, there is a Street Pastors Patrol of Portswood High Street.  The team base themselves in the back hall at Portswood Church and go out in teams from here. Who are the Street Pastors and what do they do? Street Pastors is a response of the local Christian community in Southampton to the needs of our City.  There are currently 111 street pastors and 31 prayer pastors, providing support and prayer whilst street pastors are on duty. The Street Pastors offer reassurance, safety as well as practical help and support through listening, caring and helping.  They meet people in the moment, taking a non-judgemental approach. Their trained volunteers run regular patrols at night-time in Southampton city centre and in the parks and in the suburbs throughout the city during the day and evening. They offer a reassuring presence that is relied upon by door staff, police, paramedics, city officials and communities.  Since Street Pastors have been operating in the City and suburbs, there has been a 22% reduction in A&E admissions and reduction in violent crime during peak come from over 57 churches, giving 4-6 hours for a patrol once a month. Kintsugi HOPE Well being Group

Who Is Kintsugi Hope For? Kintsugi Hope is a wellbeing group that aims to help address our emotional health.  Each week, a different topic is covered such as resilience, disappointment, anxiety and loss.  There is a mixture of videos, discussion in groups and personal reflection in a safe confidential space. When and Where? This is a 12 week course that will take place in our Lounge room at Portswood Church (opposite Waitrose), SO17 2FY on Thursdays evenings between 7-8.30pm starting on 16th April 2026 (term time only). Why is it called Kintsugi and what should I expect? Kintsugi HOPE Wellbeing course takes its inspiration from 'Kintsugi' which is a Japanese technique for repairing pottery with seams of gold.  The idea is to repair the brokenness in a way that makes the object more beautiful and even more unique, than it was prior to being broken.  Instead of hiding the scars, it makes a feature of them. Likewise, the aim of the Kintsugi HOPE wellbeing course is continue the process of repair and celebrate how our unique story has shaped the person we are today. How much does it cost? If you are able, we ask for a donation of £36 (£3 a week) towards the cost of the course materials and weekly refreshments (or £12 for students or those on benefits), however we never want finance to stop people accessing this amazing course so there is also the option to pay nothing at all, no questions asked. Is this the right group for me? In order to make sure that this is the right group...
