This half day theoretical class based course refreshes techniques previously learnt in the full 4 day course and focuses on controlling fire fighting operations on board ship, organising & training fire parties, fixed systems and fire investigations. This is provided with essential education and training to meet the knowledge, understanding and proficiency set out in the STCW table A-VI/3. Please note: Holding this qualification does not exempt the requirement to update the Basic Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting module every five years. Duration: 1/2 day with completion of MSN1865 Annex F declaration (Page 18) (If you are unable to complete this declaration please phone to discuss your requirements.)

STCW Elementary First Aid (1 day)

STCW Elementary First Aid is one of the four compulsory commercial modules required to work on vessels covered by the STCW convention. It is internationally recognised and covers CPR, breaks & splints, bandaging, drowning and hypothermia and much more. Our instructors are career professionals in the medical world and are serving paramedics in most cases. We choose them carefully to ensure they have specific seafarer knowledge as well as extensive experience in their field. The course conforms to “Regulation VI/1, paragraph 1 and Section A-VI/1, paragraph 2.1.1.3 of the STCW Convention and Code 1978, as amended”. In accordance with IMO rules, this course has no expiry date since it is considered the certificate holder will be acting as an initial responder under the guidance onboard ship of the holder of a more advanced Medical First Aid certificate. (Please note that if the Elementary First Aid qualification is used as part of the requirements to be in charge of a vessel working in the MCA Small Craft code or similar it should be renewed every 5 years.) This course can be booked as an individual course or as part of the full STCW 5 day combined package Duration: 1 Day

STCW Proficiency in Security Awareness (½ day - pm)

Proficiency in Security Awareness is a course offering new and experienced crew members the basic information required to carry out security duties onboard and help you to have a heightened security awareness. The International Ship and Port Security (ISPS) code outlines the need for security and vigilance onboard merchant vessels of all sizes. This course aims to ensure you can: report a security incident, including a piracy or armed robbery threat or attack; know the procedures to follow when they recognise a security threat ; and take part in security-related emergency and contingency procedures. The course is compulsory for all new crew members and for existing crew members unless they have had at least six months documented sea service on an approved vessel between 1st January 2009 and 1st January 2012 or already hold the SSO or CSO qualification.
