Richard Madden is an award-winning travel writer and the writer, co-writer or ghostwriter of nine books including the newly-released Great British Journeys: A Bucket List of Unforgettable Trips. Sit down with him in the intimate setting of the Brownlow Room as he discusses his life and work, answers your questions and signs copies of Great British Journeys. Richard was The Telegraph’s Adventure Travel Editor for 10 years, is a Fellow of both the Royal Geographical Society and the Royal Literary Fund, and has adventured across the world including crossing the Hindu Kush and the Andes on horseback, crewing a Whitbread Round the World boat, habituating wild chimpanzees in Uganda, covering the Yukon Quest dog-sledding endurance race, cycling across America by bicycle, rafting the Franklin River in Tasmania, cross-country paragliding in Brazil, trekking the Kokoda Trail in Papua New Guinea and skydiving with the Red Devils. This event is part of Belton's Literary Festival.

Belton Estate’s first Literary Festival will celebrate the amazing collection of books in Belton’s care with a fantastic series of themed events! From an art installation in the house, to a stunning garden display of illustrations from A Story of the Seasons and in-person event with its illustrator Carolina Rabei, outdoor theatre, a big second-hand book sale, and period dance performances by the local Bonnets and Breeches Society! Festival displays: Grantham Arts House Installation - A display of artworks inspired by a selection of the books in Belton’s collection and created by the talented local artists at Grantham Arts. A Story of the Seasons - Pages from A Story of the Seasons, with stunning illustrations by Carolina Rabei, on display in large format along the East Lawn in the gardens.
