TALK: The mediaeval parish churches in and around Marlborough have a lot of charm and much historical and architectural interest. In this lecture we shall visit a selection of local churches, discover some of the chief features of these buildings and spot the different architectural styles that developed over the 500-year period of the Middle Ages. SPEAKER: John Osborne taught Classical Languages and Ancient History at Marlborough College, where he was Senior Master, and ran a course at the College's Summer School visiting and studying historic churches in this area. He runs similar tours for the Friends of Wiltshire Churches and is a volunteer guide at Salisbury Cathedral.

TICKETS https://www.sound-knowledge.co.uk/collections/events/products/damian-lewis-at-st-peters?variant=45731075915962 oin Damian Lewis to celebrate the release of his new album Sweet Chaos with an exclusive ’s Church from 6pm on Sunday 7th June. Following the success of his acclaimed 2023 debut Mission Creep, which established him as a powerful and authentic new voice in British music, Damian returns with his second album Sweet Chaos, written from a place of hard-won clarity. Written two years on, it is bolder, broader, and at times more raw. “The first album was quiet and tender,” Lewis says. “This new album is a bit angrier in places. You don’t know these things until you listen back: the extent to which your state of mind pervades the thing.” For this intimate appearance, Damian will perform a short, stripped-back set, showcasing the songs in their rawest form. The performance will be followed by a Q&A and signing event, offering fans a rare chance to meet Damian and ask him about the stories behind the music. “Sweet Chaos is a story of a man whose life is gilded, charmed, blessed. A man in control upon whom chaos is visited, but the chaos releases all manner of wonderful things. A freedom.” If you’d like to attend this intimate performance in a beautiful setting, album and ticket bundles are available for purchase, featuring a copy of the new album (released 5th June on CD, LP and an indies exclusive orange vinyl) and a ticket to the event.
