Every Tuesday at 12 noon, this group meets at the Hilton Doubletree on the corner of Monkgate and St Maurice's Road. Halves is an opportunity to meet with others who share the loss of their other half over a light lunch and a hot drink, for about 90 minutes.

Tea2Go

Thursday Tea To Go* is providing hot takeaway meals free of charge every Thursday from Acomb Methodist Church. From 3pm a team of local volunteers will be preparing meals, for people to collect between 6 and 7pm. Need a meal? We are supporting individuals and family struggling with the cost of living crisis and mental health. If you need a hot meal this week, text menu to to find out what we are cooking. Meals can then be collected between 6 and 7:00 p.m. from AMC. Want to volunteer? We are always looking for volunteers to help with the cooking and distribution of 40 meals each week. Our chef and sous-chefs meet at 3.30 and prepare and cook a nutritious and tasty meal. Hosts arrive at 5.30 to welcome customers, make a cuppa and have a chat with them. We are all finished and tidied away by 7.15. We are a diverse and welcoming team with some members volunteering weekly and other helping once every few months. We offer full training, a flexible rota system and a warm welcome. Volunteering with us is a rewarding experience: we know we are making a positive difference to the lives of our customers and that members of the team enjoy working with us. In order to meet demand and provide this service 52 weeks a year, we rely on donations. Just £2.50 a week can provide a hot meal for a member of our community.
