Join the Northumberland Bat Group for a fascinating evening discovering bats in the stunning Land of Oak & Iron! As the sun begins to set a little earlier in August, it’s the perfect time to explore the beautiful lower Derwent Valley. Starting from the Land of Oak & Iron Heritage Centre, this guided bat walk takes place at dusk—the ideal moment to spot bats as they emerge for the night. Using specialist bat detectors provided by the group, you’ll be able to hear the bats as they fly overhead and learn how to identify the different species found in the area. It’s a unique and immersive wildlife experience in a peaceful evening setting If you have mobility requirements, then please let us know, we can always walk a route that is more wheelchair friendly! What to bring: A torch Warm clothing (just in case) Sturdy footwear There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions during and after the walk, making this a great experience for both beginners and wildlife enthusiasts alike. Limited places, booking essential. Tickets £12 per person with proceeds going to the Northumberland Bat Group and our charity Groundwork NE & Cumbria. Please note: We expect this event to be very popular and places are limited, so early booking is strongly recommended to avoid disappointment.
