Technical Day – Stepped Bezel Ring (BI28X1YHa) Marquis or Pear faceted stone Technical days are a selection of more advanced jewellery courses for learners looking to add to their current skills. This course provides learners with a comprehensive understanding of how to design, fabricate, and set a professional stepped bezel ring for a marquise or pear-shaped faceted gemstone. Beccy will guide you through each step with a structured, hands-on approach, where you will explore the principles of stepped bezel construction, ring design and stone setting. By the end of the course, learners will have the confidence and practical skills to fabricate and set stepped bezel rings and apply the technique to pendants and earrings in future projects too. Learning Outcomes Accurately measure gemstones and calculate bezel dimensions Select suitable metals and material thicknesses for the selected stone Solder the stepped bezel layers Form the Stepped bezel to fit the stone accurately Construct ring shank to accurately fit the setting Burr seating at tips to protect the delicate points of the gemstone during setting Set the stone File and finish the ring to remove solder and imperfections Polish the completed ring to a professional standard Level: Suitable for those with some experience of soldering, forming and cabochon stone setting Materials: In addition to the course fee and will be approx £15-£50 depending on your design and stone you choose.
