This Heritage Open Weekend, we throw open our doors free of charge, inviting you to explore the beauty, stories, and heritage that make this building so special. Originally built in 1836, the church was designed in the Georgian style, typical of the era when Wavertree was growing from a village into a thriving suburb. Entry is free – no booking required. Donations are welcome to help with the ongoing care and maintenance of our historic building. At Wavertree Congregational Church, we have a long and cherished history of bringing families, friends, and communities together. One of our most beloved traditions is our Wedding Dress Display — a celebration of love, history, and the countless marriages that have taken place within these walls over the years. This unique exhibition showcases wedding dresses worn by brides over the ages, spanning decades of fashion and tradition. From elegant gowns of the early 20th century to classic styles of more recent years, each dress tells a personal story of commitment, joy, and faith.
