DetailsClass Title - Throwing & Hand-building courseTutor - Penny CampbellLocation - The Clay Loft, StroudTimings - Monday Evening - 1830 - 2130Duration - 12 weeksStart Date - 14th September 2026Half Term - 26th October 2026End Date - 7th December 2026DescriptionPenny will lead a 12 week course suitable for beginners and developing potters.The course provides for (max) 8 throwers with 2 additional places dedicated to hand-builders (please specify at the time of booking). Note that if you elect hand-building you may still have the opportunity to throw if and when wheels become available.During the course Penny will introduce beginners to the hand-building techniques including:Clay PreparationClay manipulation using the pinch technique (Pinch pots and clay modelling)Working with slabs using hand-rolled and slab-rolled methodsBuilding with coilsStudents will also be introduced to throwing and will have the opportunity to develop their skills on the Potter’s wheel.Course fees include clay and glazes but firings are additional and are charged at £3.60/litre (equivalent to a large mug).About PennyAfter my first career teaching and then teacher training in various countries, it was my uncle and aunt, Joe and Trudi Finch, who sparked my passion for pottery and have provided me with many years of tuition and support.
