We are pleased to welcome Ian Ethell back to the club for another multi-axis turning demonstration. Ian was last with us back in March 2024 when he showed us how to turn a multi-axis honey dipper (you can find his guide in the How To’s section of the members area). This time Ian will share how to turn a multi-axis box, and it promises to be as interesting and educating as the honey dipper. A great demonstration to attend if you are looking for a new skill to add to your repertoire.

Simon Hope Demonstration - Beaded Box with Pewter insert and finial

We were looking forward to Mick Hanbury being our guest demonstrator. Sadly, Mick has had to pull out of the evening as his wife is due to have an operation and understandably he needs to be with her. Not to leave us without a demonstrator for the night, Mick, along with Tony Jones, have arrange for Simon Hope to come along. Simon has been turning since he was 11, and at the age of 26 he was the youngest to be on the register of turners. Simon has a vast experience in demonstrating to woodturning clubs across the UK and Europe. He has presented at seminars in the UK, Ireland, France, Germany and Austria. He has also been a judge for the worshipful company of turners. This will be Simon first ever visit to Burcot and he will be showing how to turn a beaded box with pewter inlay and a finial Not a demonstration that you should miss!

Hands On & Turning Clinic

It is another Hands On and Turning Clinic where club members can get to use the 3 club lathes to practice and develop their skills. So if you want to know how to improve your technique and skills you can get help from club tutors and experienced turners. Come along and have a go. Don’t forget that our members work table will be set up for members to share their work and explain the various techniques, so please bring items along. The club bring and buy table will also be available if you are looking to sell equipment or tools.
